Week 32

Now turning pink

As fat beneath the skin continues to develop, your baby's colour changes from red to pink. You may notice that movements have increased. Movements are an indicator of the baby's wellbeing, so it is useful to learn to count them. The nails are now fully developed and reach the fingertips, while the rate of growth has slowed.

From this week, your doctor may wish to see you every 2 weeks. This also means that birth is approaching. Learn and watch for signs of preterm labour. Eating small, frequent meals with plenty of fibre and drinking plenty of fluids can reduce digestive problems.

Leg cramps are very common and may indicate a need for calcium. Approaching the end of pregnancy does not mean you should stop taking your vitamins; continue them until delivery.
