In a woman who has reached reproductive age, the transformation occurs on average every 28-30 days. menstrual cycle or called menstrual cycle. Menstrual cycle or monthly cycle refers to the time from the first day of the last menstrual date to the first day of the next menstrual date and the events that occur in the female body during this time.
Different expressions are used among the public to describe menstruation. The most common among these are "to menstruate", "to have menstruation", "to have menstruation", "to have menstrual period", "to have menstrual bleeding", "to have menstruation", "to have bleeding", "period" and "to get sick" are expressions
Depending on cultural characteristics, the word "to be colorful" is also used, similar to the word "to get dirty" and the English word "menstrual". Although a menstrual cycle generally lasts 28 days in a woman, between 21 and 35 days are the lower and upper limits of normal. Menstrual bleeding continues for an average of 4 days, and 1 to 7 days are considered the lower and upper limits of normal. Between 20 and 80 milliliters of blood is lost during menstrual bleeding. Although "Menses" means "menstrual bleeding" in Latin, it is also the plural of the word "mensis", which means "month" in this language, meaning "months".
The most important similarity between the Moon and the menstrual cycle and bleeding is that the Moon, which is the satellite of the Earth, has its own cycle, just like the menstrual cycle. From the beginning to the end of this cycle, the moon appears in different ways on our earth. One cycle of the Moon lasts 29.5 days and there is no deviation in this cycle.
First "Menstrual Bleeding"
During the transition from childhood to adolescence, the average girl experiences her first menstrual bleeding at the age of 12.5. This "first bleeding" is far from being a real menstrual bleeding that occurs at regular intervals, since the ovulation process has not started yet. When the girl's hormone secretion mechanisms and genital organs mature, the ovulation process begins and the menstrual bleeding becomes regular as a part of the menstrual cycle.
What is the function of menstrual bleeding?
During the menstrual cycle, different events occur in the brain, ovaries and lining of the uterus. The process, which begins with the hormones secreted from the brain stimulating one of the ovaries, causes the release of an egg cell ready for fertilization from the stimulated ovary, while the inner layer of the uterus prepares itself for a possible pregnancy. When fertilization does not occur, the life of the released egg cell ends and a new menstrual cycle begins after the inner layer of the uterus prepared for pregnancy is expelled by menstrual bleeding.
The purpose of menstrual bleeding can be considered as "refreshing" the inner layer of the uterus so that a possible pregnancy that may occur in each menstrual cycle can settle and develop under appropriate conditions.
