Latest Developments in Embryo Transfer Metabolomix

Metabolomics Method

Current embryo selection techniques:  The methods that have been used for a long time are to examine the embryos under a microscope, look at the number of cells and their shapes, and choose the "highest quality" one.

Evaluating whether the embryos are chromosomally (genetically) normal or their chances of survival is only possible by examining one or two cells taken through biopsy with the pre-implantation genetic diagnosis method. However, there must be a valid reason to apply this method. Advanced maternal age, carrying a genetic disease, recurrent pregnancy losses, etc. like.

However, today, with the method we call metabolomics, it is scientifically possible to select the most suitable embryo without risk. With this method, which has not yet been fully implemented into routine practice and is being researched, it will most likely be possible to predict which embryo will adhere.

Metabolomics and adhesion: Just as we can evaluate a person's blood tests, urine and feces and obtain important information about the person's general health status, we can also get an idea about the health and survival of embryos by examining their metabolism, that is, what they consume and what they secrete into the environment in which they develop, with the same logic. In other words, we can choose the most suitable embryo to be transferred in a healthier way by examining the environment in which the embryo develops.
