When was the last time you went to a gynecologist?

"I think it's been more than a year... maybe a lot longer... but make an appointment now, quit your job, get permission from your boss if you're working, endure traffic, additional expenses if a lot of tests are required, etc... and anyway, I don't have any complaints right now..."

Oh, don't say that... just 1-2 hours and a small budget will solve a very important problem that you may encounter in the first place. When I say important problem, I obviously mean CANCER. Uterine, cervical, ovarian and breast cancer. Remember that when all these cancers start to show symptoms and cause complaints, it may be too late. ! Yes, a significant portion of cancers can still be treated only through early diagnosis. When it is late, that is, when the disease progresses, your life expectancy may be extended a little with treatments, but you cannot escape the certain end.

However, it is possible to avoid this with examination, ultrasound and a simple smear test (taking a swab from the cervix with a brush). Cervical cancer is a slowly developing cancer, and these cellular changes can be detected with a smear test long before it becomes an aggressive cancer. The smear test is a simple and effective screening test that has been shown to reduce deaths due to cervical cancer. While cervical cancer ranked first in genital cancer-related deaths in the USA 20-25 years ago, it fell to fourth place as a result of the smear test being encouraged by state policies.

In our country, smear screening is largely carried out under the guidance of the gynecologist and, to a lesser extent, upon the request of the patient. Unfortunately, the rate of women who go for routine check-ups and have a smear test, even if they have no complaints, is still much lower than it should be. It is beneficial for every woman who has started her sexual life to have a smear test once a year. If three consecutive times are normal for young women, it can also be done every 2 years. Although progress has been made in recent years regarding the cervical cancer vaccine, the smear test still maintains its value over all other measures.

Ovarian cancer, which usually does not cause any symptoms until a huge mass forms in the abdomen, is the most cruel and insidious of female genital cancers. It can only be revealed when it is suspected with an ultrasound examination performed by your doctor and investigated with advanced imaging methods and blood tests.

Likewise, knowing that breast cancer is a nightmare for women and one of the leading causes of death, you should also request a breast examination from your gynecologist. Even if you examine yourself regularly, a doctor's examination and, if necessary, an ultrasound or mammogram that may be requested are of great importance.

Considering the increase in all cancers in recent years, the thing to do is to take the necessary precautions as much as we can.

Dear ladies, life is beautiful. You should live it joyfully, healthily and with pleasure. "I guess it's been a long time...If you say ", don't forget to call your gynecologist today..

I wish you healthy days…
